Default Some nice Black bear and some kind of tinsel

Went to the Flea market today and their wasn't much and some vendors weren't open yet so went to the fly shop and got 3 big pieces of Black Bear for $1 apiece

Then at a yard sale on the way home this was in a FREE box and I thought it just might make some nice jigs - some kind of Christmas tree wrap. Sparkle blue with silver sparkle tips

He's checking into some white fox for me as he was out. We were talking about dye jobs on feathers and I'm going down to the shop tommorrow to show him what I've done. Trying to get him to carry Fly Dye flourescent colors!! I just have to break down and order it but $15 a jar is though but goes a long ways.

Good stuff Doug. Good deal on the bear. The arctic fox prices hurt my feelings, but the stuff is great.

Doug looks llike you hit a jackpot there. I have tied with a little Black bear it has great action. Try some badger sometime. It is hard to tie with but has super action. We used it for some of them jumbo yellow perch that you should have up in your neck of the woods. BTW the Badger can be dyed to about any color it has a cream natural color with some brown tips the guard hair is what you want to tie with. Try to find the hide in prime coat taken in late fall, early winter.

Hey buddy been a while!!!!!! I like all the bear furs - I have a badger face mask that I've used on flies and a few small jigs that I really stretched the hair to make it look decent. Been checking with folks on Taxidermy.net Coffin Creek furs and Moscow Hide and furs and have gotten some really nice stuff.

Yeah the wife and I love eating perch!!!! and they are fun to catch on light line, although they seem to be hiding somewhere in the pond and nobody is catching them right now, even the trout seem to be hiding.

Doug the guys at Coffin Creek are real good folks. I used to buy 100's of buck tails from them. I got 4 or 5 badger pelts one winter when there pelts were like 5 bucks a pop. Two were so fine I had them tanned. Best head warmers on a cold winters night Still use them on pillows as cover. You will find that the best fur from the badger to tie is on the rump just in front of the hind leg. They will take to your Kool-ade dye nicely. I like the ritz dye much better.

Perch will start hitting in the colder months of the year they are as fine a fish to eat as there is. They taste better out of the cold water. Leave them alone until fall and then get a mess and enjoy.
