Default mounting of lee lead pot thermostat?

Can anyone tell me how the lee thermostat needs to be mounted to work?
Touching the heating element, spaced away or what or even a pic?
I just finished building a lead pot and i just need to wire it up

    Default lee

My pot is a hideous monstrocity, lol. I would not suggest attempting making one. Ill post a pic after i get it wired up. The pot itself is stainless steel tube like 2.25 or 2.5" and 12" long and its set up as bottom pour. Im really worried the nozzle is going to drip like crazy.
