    Default Round Spring

I am really new at this, but am having fun tying, or trying to tie, jigs. Anyway, my question is: What is the purpose of that round spring that is on the body of my vice? Don't laugh, I just don't know what I don't know.

It's for holding materials. Like if you were tying something that you wanted to wrap over with small wire after it's about finished then you would tie it in early and stick the end over there and pinch it with that spring. Lots of things you would use it for.

Just for holding stuff that you will use tying, but tied in early and finished later.

If I am copying a jig the spring holds the jig for me
