I'd do it,but I'm too busy & too far behind in shipping orders to make some for the exchange.
It wouldn't work!
Some of us here tie with better materials than others, some tie to sell. Swapping jigs to inexperienced people who tie, or receiving jigs that are of less quality isn't ideal. Giving away jigs that you sell will hurt you in the long run!
And for the swapmeister...I agree with Ship!
Your not fishing, unless your crappie fishing!

I think it would be fun, and would love to do it, (but) times is hard for a broke college student, and those pesky school assignments would get in the way.
But it is a cool concept, and it is a lot of fun to participate. It's really just a way for people who share the same interest (in jig tying/fly tying) to connect in the love of their hobby. I think it would work in the jig world. That ball just needs to get rolling.
But, I can also see how someone would not want to swap their creation. Especially if their creation is a work of art, like many of Ship's jigs appear to be. (At least that's how they appear to me) And every other jig I've seen a pic of on Crappie.Com
"Mister, I love the way you wear that hat."
"You don't know nothin'."
I am not sure how to comment on this subject. I like fly swaps very much. I am not sure about jigs. Is there that many different jigs to trade? I would go along with the majority. I will participate in the swaps if everyone whats to do this.

Man you guys are tough! I would have done it but I have such a back load right now and I need to get it all done before I got to visit my son again on the 21st.
You guys should give him a break though even if you don't want to do it I don't think he was trying to get to anyone, really! I wanted to participate on one I was ask to on a fly tying board, but I couldn't because of the time allotment I have. I will get into that later on that fly tying stuff though.
Later I may even join in doing one here.

I have tried to help people learn to tie a basic jig that will work. I just don't have the time to get into swapping. Don't get me wrong. For fly tiers it is probably a great idea. For jig tiers, I'm an old fashioned guy. What has worked in the past is a chennille jig, a marabou jig, some artificial plastic, or a minnow. That is all I need for Crappies.
Just my two cents. Keep the change.:D :D :D :D

I agree completely. I think fowlmood's completely sincere in his motives. I just think a jig swap is pointless. As ship so eloquently put it, "a jig is a jig."Originally Posted by skiptomylu

Hey fishhunter,
Welcome from Alabama the beautiful. This is the best fishing site on the net. Many people on this board are willing to help and share their knowledge with you.

I'd love to do it. I tie jigs and flies for fun (not for profit). Define the style each time and lets see what we come up with. I do fly swaps and it is a lot of fun. Who cares if we are pros or amateurs. We post pics of our jigs and if someones going to copy it they can do it from the pic just as easy as they can with it in their hand. We're on here (the forum) to share information and fellowship with other crappie fishermen. I say LET'S DO IT!!!
Thanks for asking and count me in. :D
