Actually, in Iowa, we'll have up to 3 bluegill spawns.
Late may early june, late june early july, and late july early august. But this all depends on when the full moon falls during these periods. There will even be what I'd call a false spawn around a late august early september full moon, but it just consists of the male taking on their spawning colors puffing up as ussual, and going shallow to build nests. If you pay attention to what's happening on your favorite blugill lake, you should see this occurance. The conditions have to be right also, but I've seen it so many years you can set your clock by it.
Thanks for the info guys. I really didn't think there would be a second spawn or a later one for the crappies.
Anybody have any idea how to extract those slabs that are holed up under the sailboats in Buck Creek? lol
I aggree on the 'Gills spawning more than once. I will try to PM you an answer about your other question- SSHH!
