    Rathbun....enjoy it while you can.

Herb, we will need to do more hard water fishing there to make up for lost time.
We fished it in early July and managed to catch some pretty fair crappies off the cove mouths in 19-22' of water....just a thought....we were walleye fishing and finally gave up on the "cigars" we found to try for some crappies.

Wouldn't it be great to get some decent ice over there this winter?
We'll wait and see. Winter is just around the corner now.

Herb....yes ice is nice. When you and I fished it last year it was just about over. Maybe we will get there a little earlier and hit it right this year. I found out about another spot I hadn't considered for ice fishing down there from someone I work with. Always looking for an edge!

Anyone catching anything at Rathbun now? Walleyes? Crappies? Whites? Catfish? Wondering if the hot weather is past us and the lake might be cooling down a little.

FYI be aware of the DNR boat on Rathbun. Seems that they are trying to make some money off the fishermen. I got a fine for being inside the hazard buoys near the dam on my last trip (late June). Cost me $50 for what I thought was a pretty minor deal.....drifted inside and bingo there was the DNR ready to make Appanoose county some money!! Not to say that I wasn't in the wrong....but whatever happened to warning for an honest mistake?

slab happy, you were intending to donate some cash to the DNR anyways, right? They just relieved you of it in a way you hadn't thought of. lol
I've been over there twice in the past 4 weeks and did really well each trip. Most all my fish came off the rigs like I sent you a couple years ago.
Truth be know, I'd rather fish that lake in the winter and the heat of summer than during the spawn. But that's just me I guess.
