Thanks for sharing, sure wish sponsors for tourneys could be secured at more locations. Without sponsor money they just can't do it.
I saw this on the Iowa Crappie Master page. Now you guys can start planning.

I second that, without sponsors the tournament trail will fail. If anybody is interested in sponsoring or knows of somebody or a business that may be interested I can get you the gentleman's contact info that handles it. I spoke to him a couple days ago and got the details. Sponsor money goes towards DNR fees, tournament trophies, etc. Can be anywhere from $100 and up.
I have not fished Rathbun or RR in a tourney but I can imaging it has to be alot of fun. Great fisheries. Does anybody know how they chose which lakes will be fished? I would guess a majority of the interest is in those areas? I would be willing to make a donation on behalf of CDC IOWA if anyone is interested. Hate to see a good thing go and perhaps any little bit would help.
Talked to Crappie Masters Iowa organizer and will be making a donation for sponsorship on behalf of Crappie.com Iowa. Thanks HuntIa for posting up info.

Back in the 90's when I was closer to the circle of putting tourney's together it was always where you could find the sponsors and housing. Rathbun and Red Rock were always willing to try. With the other great fisheries in Iowa we always struggled. Either they did not want more pressure on their water from the outside or the money just was just not there. As far as donations I'm too far removed to have names but I will tell you these organizations will always listen to an honest sponsor or donation. Lots of sub-sponsors are at these tourney's all over the place. Like most of life it revolves around money.
Its really a great group of folks that fished the trail last year. Lots of fun, good comoraderie. Tyler put alot of work into getting it going last year and Greg is doing the same this year. Hopefully the number of boats and memberships will grow this year and we can keep this going for years to come
I commend them for that. To grow you will need members. Where do we sign up.
A Crappie Masters membership is all you need, it's not state specific. You can get a membership on the Crappie Masters website or you can sign up for a membership when you register to fish one of the tournaments
Well that would be nice but, back in 2007 I accidentally weighed in one more fish than was legal. That was my error not theirs. The tourney rules clearly state that if your caught cheating your banned from there tourneys. I'm not proud of it but rules have got to be maintained or all is lost. Good luck with the future. Crappie Masters is still one fine organization even if I feel that was harsh punishment, a simple disqualification would have been enough in my eyes, but rules are rules. They are for everyone involved.
