Coralville 3/15/12

Took out my new boat yesterday to Coralville to stock up on fish for some future fish frys. I'd called the the COE beforehand about the water temps which they no longer track there for some reason, but was advised that we could launch at sites with no ramp charges for now. They didn't tell us that most of the ramp areas are all gated off and closed right now though! After driving all around the lake, we finally got launched at McCaffrey (sp?) bridge ramp around noon. Coralville is about 4' below normal pool still from Winter draw down. Water temps were quite the surprise, ranging from 52.8 all the way up to 63.3! Caught tons of shorts, and several PIGS, and finished with a nice mess of fish! As a side note, the stripers were biting furiously near cove points if you are in to them at all. Biggest Crappie was living in 1.5' of water on wood, and weighed 2.23lbs. Most fish were holding around 7.5' deep in 15 FOW or less. Best colors were Yum's Black & Chart & Pumpkin & Chart, BG's Chart sparkle, and Mid South's White & Chart sparkle. Our best producers and their patterns for us, shall remain unnamed since it will be used in the up-coming tournament against y'all! LOL! = )
