    Default Rathbun Lake level?

Hey guys, my wife and I just cancelled our week long fishing trip to Arkansas because the lake is totally flooded. My wife suggested Rathbun. According to the Corps of Engineers site the lake is only 2 feet above normal pool. Do you Iowa folks think it would be worth our time and money to pull the boat to Rathbun for a few days between the 7th and 14th of May? It's not flooded is it? We have never been to Rathbun and this may be an opportunity to try it. We would be coming from Illinois. Thanks for any replies.

Called down this morning and talked with the hatchery/DNR the tube is letting out 500 cfs the lake surface temp by the tower was 50 deg. Some crappie and walleye are being caught on the lake in the shallows and below the tube.Depending on the weather IF it stays nice fishing should be good. There is also 3 mile and 12 mile which isn't far from Rathburn. Also you got Lake Red Rock which is a hour north of Rathburn. It is a little on the high side, but they are trying to get it back to normal pool for the crappie spawn and white bass.I live in Knoxville Iowa and fish all 4 of the lakes. If you have any questions feel free to PM me!!!!

You should be fine, 2+ feet above normal pool isn't nothing for Rathbun. Personally I like fishing Rathbun when the water is a little higher as it gives you the opportunity to target spawning crappie in more structure along the banks, otherwise there isn't much bank structure available anymore.
