Sorry! No help but...Find out who buys 'em and go ask them.:o
This isnt crappie related, but this is the best place for me to ask. Im reading online that iowa pays 5 cents per every can, or bottle. my question is is it as simple as just saving cans and bottles, then taking them somewhere and they pay you 5 cents each?
will they allow non iowa residents to bring their cans in?
i live on the missouri iowa border, and wouldnt mind making a couple bucks, to help save the environment. its cash that would ordinarily be thrown away, and fill land fills.
i just dont want to start saving, then find out i cant cash them in, or find out they are actually only worth half a cent each (wouldnt even pay for my gas to turn them in)
hopefully you guys can help me out, the internet hasnt given me a clear answer

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
thats what ill do if no one chimes in with the answer. just figured id try this first, thinking some iowa residents would offer up the answer quickly.
Check the top of the can, it will say if there is a deposit on it. We pay when we buy at the store but get back if cans are turned in to a redemtion center.
ok so the can has to be marked "5 cent redemtion in IA" (I thought most if not all did) then they can be turned in, and they actually give you a true 5 cents? or is it a discounted rate?
do they ask for proof of residence? or would anyone be able to do it?
Like mentioned earlier they have to be marked Iowa five cent deposit. No residency requirement. For non marked cans you might want to check the scrap aluminum prices.
Take them to Michigan they're worth a dime a piece. Atcually the sku on the cans are different Missouri can wont go through Iowa redemption machines.
