let Paul and the powers that we dont want to lose the tourney that has been on Rathbun since 89. That Iowa does want a crappie circuit. Another thing is to let the chamber of commerce, bait shop owners resturant owners etc that you support the circuit. I remember in 89 375 teams yes teams fished the one day tourney at Rathbun. The following years was 500 plus (cant recall the exact number) we set a world record for a one day team tournament.I believe if we went to a summer tourney after the spawn we could get some of the local people back that dont like to fish the high water spawn up the lake. Send your emails and contact the chambers for your support.

Well it sounds as though the Centerville Chamber of Commerce has not been very supportive of the tournament for quite some time. I am going to se if I can get Albia's Chamber involved, see what if anything they would be willing to do. The General Manager of the Honey Creek Resort is on the Albia Chamber of Commerce. Hopefully that will perk some interest. WHat have you guys heard from Centerville's Chamber? I have not received anything response to my emails asking for their support. We should organize our efforts to get this done. What is Crappie Masters wanting in terms of support? Help Organizing, marketing I assume, I not sure however.

Let me know jwn & prchjerker if you guys want to get more organized on making sure we get the word out and maybe offer help with the tourney.

I recieved a very positive email from the general manager of the Honey Creek Resort stating he would be happy to help drum up support from the Albia Chamber, Chariton Chamber, Rathbun Lake Association and the Resort. I forwarded the email to Bobby at Crappie Masters. Hopefully this will bring much needed support. It really is nice to know there are people out there that want to help keep a crappie tournament at the lake.

Well I told some of the fishermen I know from the area to get there calls made and to tell all there friends and buisness owners to do the same. Hopefully Albia will take it over and everyone that enjoys the tournament can contiue fishing it at Rathbun.

I want to be as transparent as possible so here is where I am at, I received this email from Joyce at the Centerville Chamber followed by my initial email:

That would be great if you could talk to the Albia Chamber. The Centerville Chamber has carried the entire load of the Crappie Master's tournament for at least 10 years. We need other groups to step up too!

    Joyce,

I am a tournament angler from Albia. I have been fishing Crappie tournaments at Rathbun since 1989. We are in danger of losing the Rathbun tourney with Crappie Masters. I would like to help the Centerville Chamber anyway I can to ensure that Crappie Masters keep coming back to Rathbun. I have spoken with Andy Woodrick at the Honey Creek Resort and he told me he would help drum up support, just to tell him what was needed. Please let me know what you need help with. I would be happy to speak with the Albia Chamber for additional help.

Please contact me at your convience, I know with a group effort we can get this done. Anything you need!!

I sent an email back asking for her to let me know what specifically they need in terms of support, and what I should ask of the Albia Chamber. I am having a hard time getting Crappie Masters to tell me what they need. We all now they want more help and support I just don't know exactly what that is. When I talk to the resort and the Chamber I want to know what I need to ask for. I have no problem asking, I have no problem doing the leg work.

I also do not want to just tell Mr. Woodrick (Honey Creek Resort) and the Albia Chamber to contact Crappie Masters, I know all involved are busy and I want to make it easy for them. Besides, us anglers are the ones that are directly affected by losing the tourney.

If you guys have any thoughts on how to proceed that would be great!!! I am going to forward Bobby and Paul's contact info to Mr. Woodrick as Bobby suggested, I wish I had a better idea what Crappie Masters is needing? I assume monetary support is always welcome, I just don't have any clue.

    Thanks guys,

    Brian

Brian check you PM. Paul announced Friday night at Mark Twain that Rathbun in June is a go. The Chamber got so many emails and hone calls they not only are hosting the tourney but they are going to do a TV show . Way to go everybody.
