    Thumbs up Rathbun It Is

It's carved in stone, after several beers alot of talk and several more beers. The decision was made, Rathbun 2nd or 3rd weekend in May. Myself and 3 buddies for 3 or 4 days of crappie chasin. Is our timing about right, I know alot depends on the weatherman. Heard (Bridgeport?) was a good place to camp anyone verify that? A campfire and a place to set a tent and a lawn chair is all we need. Been kickin this trip around for 2 yrs. and it's finally gonna happen!!!! izzy:D :D

Bridgeview Izzy. I'd think you'll do good with the time line you picked. If this was a year of normal weather, I'd like the dates you chose. But, who the heck knows what the weather will be like at that time?
They'll either be staging, spawning, or dropping back to deeper water. Either way, you'll catch fish. And I see a banner year for big ones this year.
    Luck to ya.

I just found that out wed. night, oh well. I'm thinkin it's gonna be pretty crowded but were going anyway 19th thru 21st. Just have to fish hard and long fri. and maybe take it easy sat. and watch the pro's while we're fishin. The reservations are already made so it's to late to change now. Heck, if the fishin's good we might stay another day or two...izzy

We are planning a trip the same weekend. Can't decide there or going to Icaria, Three Mile, Green valley area. I have heard good things about both. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

Do Rathbun instead. The Crappie Masters tourny will have many boats in it, including mine. But this is really set to be a bonanza year for Rathbun. It goes in cycles there, and when the timing is right, which it is this year, you are in for some fishing of a life time. I'm not recomend any areas for ther this year though. But I am sure you won't have too much of a problem finding all the 12" or better fish you care to if the weather just cooperates. Full baskets, and big bites to yas. But please remember to leave behind some of the bigger nest gaurding males, and concentrate more on taking home the spawned out females.

We did'nt fare to well, as with most we talked to. I guess the weather messed em up again (as with everywhere this year). How did you do in the tourney Rippa? We watched part of the weigh in and talked to a few of the guys, they said it was pretty tuff. Seen the points leaders only had 4lbs something. We wound up with 6 Fri. and 16 Sat. with a nice walleye to boot. 1-15 1/2" and the rest in the 9 to 10 inch range. Waygate, thanks again for the help. We picked up a few off the spots you told me about. Not alot of fish, but had a good time and will try it again next year...izzy

We had the same results over the weekend.

It was pretty slow. We were having our best luck on brush in about 10'-12'.

I was suprised that friday afternoon wasn't a little better fishing... It was HOT out there.
