    Izzy,

How big of boat do you have? Electronics? If you want, send me your email address and I may be able to point you to a few spots to get you started around the Bridgeview area. If you have a bigger boat and can be fairly mobile I can give you a couple of my favorite spots with bigger crappie. If you are camping at Bridgeview be careful as I have had many things(coolers, grills, poles, etc) disappear when I have been down there. Buddy of mine had his whole tent missing when he came back from day of fishing. Just try to lock things up when you are gone. Don't forget the walleyes when down there as it can be a dynamite bite, too.

Yes it can get nasty with a west wind, but there are places to get out of the wind on Rathbun. You can put in the southfork arm and stay protected. Also honeycreek and the buckcreek arms are fairly narrow and dont get too bad.Look for a good year class of nice fish this year.

Thanks again Waygate, I bought a X70 Xpress (18' 10") with a 150 XR6 last year so mobilitys not a problem. Have 2 sonar units and probably gonna pick up a Global Map 3500 tomorrow (hope I can figure out how to use it, hehe). We had some good luck and found a room at the Grey Goose Inn so we're not camping. Not sure if your familiar with the Private Message feature here. If not, just click on my site name (izzysfishin) and you can send me a private message or an e-mail. I call Truman here in Mo. my home lake, so if ya ever get down this way i'll do my best to return the favor...izzy

Honey Creek is a good place to camp. Fishing is good in several spots. I can't wait.

There is about 20 something people going up there the week before Memorial day from my area. They have went for several years and last year caught a bunch. I don't understand how the no size limit and no daily limit works to keep the population up but I guess they do. Good luck..

Hey osagemo, from everything i've heard and read about Rathbun it must be a crappie factory in both quality and quantity. I'm not going for the quantity, i'd just like to see what it's like to catch 50 to 100 a day. From what some freinds tell me they do it regularly. If I can bring back enough for a fry that will suit me just fine...izzy

We tried for years to talk the DNR into a size and possesion limit. They claim that the lake doesnt need it.I have to say theyre right, the one thing we do need is alittle high water at spawn time so we get a good spawn. The one thing I hate is when people get caught up in the heat of the moment catching fish and throwing in the livewell. Then when they get to the cleaning tables after about the first 30 fish they start culling the small ones into the trash. That really burns me.Ya'll will have a good time and if youre there at the crappie masters weigh -in say hi.

    Hey Izzy,

Tried to send PM but not sure if it worked. Please let me know if you got it or not. I saved it locally, so can send again if you did not receive.
