Woody's is open(Wed - Sun) not sure about the other baitshop directly below the spillwya yet, the trailer at the end of the campground entrance on 500 S is always open, but the charge double the price!!!
Good Luck,
Al
Can anyone tell me the closest place to buy bait near red bridge?

Thanks Al for the info. Now if the weather will just settle down maybe we can get the bite going.

The bite has been pretty good. Sunday Mom wanted to go fishing so I took her to Miss and we ended up with 30 nice ones. They were hitting any color jig good. Mom even tried jigging. ALL of them had thier tuxedos on. Water temp got up to 66. Dad and a buddy went yesterday caught 27 with minnos about half of them had thier tuxedos on. I love to see white males that are turning black. All fish were caught in 5-6 FOW 1-1/2' down in coves.
I had about the same luck Monday evening. We took home 14 from the bank back in a cove, about 2-3 feet deep on minnies. I'd say 3-4 of them were turning black, including one real nice one my brother caught. A couple other gentleman on down from us both had full stringers and they were using a jig with a float and said they hadn't caught one less then 8 feet deep all day. Strange. This 1-3 inch rain is sure to mess up the good times for about a week and half
As for bait shops, there is woodys by the spillway. Never been there. I come from Logansport and sometimes stop at Bucks bait outside of Peru, they seem a little high on minnies though. Not sure what the going rate is around there, but i can get em at the bait shop here in Logan for 79 cents a doz, they want 1.25 in peru.
I stopped at Mississinewa again this afternoon. 13 crappie, a bunch of small bass, and 4 bluegill. Bite never was consistent all day, just pick up one here and there. Wind was pretty gusty up until around 4, thats when i got most of my crappie. Eggs in the females were pretty loose. The Lake was not up much at all after the rain to my surprise, hopefully that stays the case.
We did alright today.. 15 keepers, most on minnows... as far as the old bait store down by the spillway: There is a new bait store in somerset, about 8 miles away on 13, and that is the guy who used to own the old store by the spillway. I don't expect it to be opening anytime soon. He said when they took the bridge out down there it pretty much killed his business.
Got 7 today, kept 5. One weighed in right at 1 pound. Lake was up 3-3.5 feet and a little muddy but i have definitely seen it worse. They were a little deeper today, about 3-4 feet, caught em on minnows. This week is looking excellent weather wise, i hope to be able to get back there Thursday.
unfortunatley I'll be stuck in logansport doing a roof... no fishing for me this week.... We're right at the intersection of the eel and wabash though so maybe I'll throw for some cats at lunch...
There's definitely some in there, i used to fish near that old railroad bridge there when the water would get bad. I have been getting channels out of the Eel for a good 3 weeks now. The smallmouth were spawning too but this rain has screwed that up. One night last week i got a 2 and a 3.5 pound smallie with a worm in the dark under a glow bobber. That was fun.
