    Default Missed you

Bill, now that you describe your boat, I'm sure I saw you but didn't recognize you well enough to yell at you. We got there before you and were sitting out in the stick ups that are straight out from the launch. I saw you launch and sit at the ramp for a bit and then go back into the stick ups there are to the left of the ramp and then you came pretty much right by us. I wasn't sure it was you but I thought you might recognize Jim and I. Bummer!!

I think you'd have a tough time on the Kankakee with your boat right now with the water level down so much. I do with mine and it's a shallower boat than yours. I'd love to take you sometime. I've usually been going on Thursday, which is my day off. I can't go this week though. Would that ever work for you?

Our next American Sportsmen is on Oct. 10th Tuesday at 7pm and we are going to have a speaker from Pheasants Forever, hope you can make it!

I am sure I saw you guys. My dog ate [chewed up and totally destroyed]my glasses so I was using a pair from a previous prescription till the new ones come in. Stuff is not all that sharp.I can go any time. I have been in a bible study group at countryside in Michigan City for about 5 years on Thursday morning. I can miss to go fishing. I have to look in their book "First Light on the water",but I think Ron Lindner said "some people go to church and think about fishing.Others go fishing and think about God".How can you not?I tried to attach a pic of my boat but its to large.I tried making it smaller but haven't figured out how yet.

    Default Interesting Idea

    Mike,

I will make a meeting, and hopefully a trip as I live in Valpo. Your next meeting is Oct 10, if weather holds out I will be on Summit Lake that day. I do want to try this club out.

    Default Pheasants Forever

Live2Fish, thanks for the post. We'd love to have you. We plan to go shoot sporting clays later in the month near Judson. I'll make sure I post the info. Where do you fish in the area? Any honeyholes you are willing to share?

    Default Honeyholes here?

Hmmm, I fish in Long locally, limited success. Thinking of trying Upper Fish Lake in LaPorte county. I have been to Summit Lake, and will be there next weekend, weather permitting. I have an itch to go to Dogwood Lake has anyone been there? I stoped fishing shortly after wedding 12 years ago, but have recently pulled the boat out and started again.

    Default Live2Fish

Live2Fish, I fish Long Lake some too. Never done any good there at all. Some say they catch fish on it but I sure can't find them. If you go back and read all the posts in this thread you'll see all the lake's and rivers that I've been fishing locally this summer. I have fished Fish Lake a couple years ago but didn't do any good. The best lake fishing I've found has been Lake George in Hobart and Potato Creek in the Spring. I've never heard of Summit Lake or Dogwood Lake, where are they located?

Guys, you are overlooking Pine and Stone lakes in La Porte. They have some real nice fish in there. A little of everything, perch, bluegill, bass, crappie, and some good northern pike fishing too. It is close so give it a shot.

    Good Luck!!

    Default Dogwood and Summit

Summit is about 25 miles south of Muncie, State Park 650 acres of lake. Fishing report link - http://www.ai.org/serv/dnr_fishingre...ay=Summit+Lake

Dogwood is further south and west about 50 miles east of Vincinnes in Glendale FWA 1400 acre lake. Fishing report -

I like Summit some of the campsites are on the water. I can bring my boat to my camp. I was there a few weeks ago and caught the smallest fish I ever hooked, it was a 1 3/4" Perch. Tough to fillet - LOL.

Thanks for tips on the Laporte lake Rock Bottom.

There are also walleye in pine and stone. My buddy has a 6+ pounder hanging on his wall. We caught several nice ones that day, it was late october and it was bitter cold. Excellent bass fishing, I've never tried it for crappie. The lakes are beautiful and look like they should hold some good size fish.
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
