    Default Mississinewa conditions 4/8

Not looking good. Lake is still 2' over summer pool with spillway discharge increasing each day making down river a mess. Hogsback and up river is a flooded muddy mess. Forecast up to 2" of rain over Wed. Thursday. Not looking good at all boys. Anyone been out or on the water lately ? Carry on.

Havent been out in over a month. Was thinking about going up river today to see how it looks because after this next rain its going to be a while before i fish there again.I figure its still muddy but maybe if i get far enough up can find an area with at least a little better clarity and maybe some fish. Or i may just stay local and hit the eel for some smallies.

Got out this evening fished upstream from 688. Caught a few but not many. White bass and crappie. Left there and tried right at 688 and it was pretty high there and muddier. No bites. Fished in the rain the whole time because its likely mynonly trip upriver all year after this rain.

Ya, with all this rain looks like the river is going to be a wash this year. Maybe things will turn around in May and I can get out on the jon boat. At this point I don't see them lowering the lake level much below summer pool going forward. I went to spillway Tuesday and they were dumping it out pretty good, didn't stay long. See what this rain does , may try again this weekend, but I think I'm just fooling myself. Carry on.

Did u fish the spillway? A friend of my cousin fished there Tuesday and caught some. He claimed no size though. But he went back yesterday in the rain so im doubting his no size claim. If they slow the flow after this rain might be worth a trip for me, even though it isnt my favorite place to fish.

no, just checked out the water flow. I'm like you, I hate going down there because a certain group of people will move in and crowd you out and just causes to many problems. Hoping to finds some schools on the main lake once it clears up.

Yeah he got 17 keepers in the rain i guess and said that certain group of people was hollering up a storm everytime he would catch one. They did lower the output quite a bit so the fishing may be pretty decent there this weekend. I may try to brave it for a day since every where else is shot.

Lake level is 10' over summer pool and still climbing, looks like they are holding back somewhat , but still have to keep it flowing with more rain next week. Ugh, can't catch a break

I went to the spillway today. They had opened it back up from the day before. Cousin got a limit yesterday. Today was an absolute zoo. I pulled up a little after 4 and only 2 parking spots open out of all 3 lots. Literally no where to fish unless u wanted a spot full of current. The big eddy down by the cable box had about 15 people. 99 percent of everyone there was the " special group of people". I passed a female walkin in that was carrying a heavy 5 gallin bucket out. I can only assume takin fish to the car for whoever it was fishing. Spillway has always been kinda baf but today was worst ive ever seen. Needless to say i wasnt there long and didnt get a bite. Maybe a weeknight would be better but from what i hear the certain group of people have been there during the week too.

Ya with the lake and river flooded I figured the spillway, being the only option would be a nightmare. As much as I'd like to get down there and get a mess of fish; I just can't deal with the headache. I think a weekday morning would be less chaotic but at some point thay got to open that dam up and that will slow the bite and available spots. Hope you get a chance to get a limit, maybe the weather will improve and we can turn it around.
