    Default Ka-Ching! Cranking pay day.

Got on Lemon this morning at 8:30. Water temp was 52.2 air temp was a balmy 35. Water was cleaning up a bit. PICO’S slayed them today. Limited out with all 10” to 14” fish. Had several double and a couple of triples as quit counting and must have caught 80-90 or more crappie by 12:30 pm. Caught a 12” yellow bass I gutted and returned to the lake as you just don’t see those and don’t need them in the lake. One largemouth and a Smallmouth that went 12” as I have never caught a Smallie in the lake either. Speed was 1.4 to 1.7, water depth was 11-13’ average depth with cranks a foot or so off the bottom. Missed several nice ones as lots of light bites but big difference was we finally had some wind as this morning started out mirror calm again. Mud Bug was the hottie, Blue Boogie, Wolverine and Chrome Clown also produced good. By 1 the lake is a absolute zoo!

That's the kind of days you always remember and spend so much time and money to prepare. I went to DW and can report I did not do anywhere as well. Crappie were not shallow for the most part, the wind was hounding my old tin boat and the deep bite was light..just could not hook up. Better days to come. Keep up the reports.

Anybody that is bank fishing yesterday was not setting the world on fire by any means as the fish are still, scattered and deep. I did hit some schools, but as soon as I went thru them, they moved on me and the second passes did not produce fish. I also lost quite a few as they would hit light and I wouldn’t have a good hook set. Used the net a lot especially on the larger fish as most times, once netted, the bait were sometimes barely hooked. Cold water, and you have finikie fishing still.

Mudbug???!!! What's that? In all the reading I did last Sunday on these forums about crappie crankbaits, I think Mudbug was close to the number 1 pattern mentioned. If memory serves me right, I think there might be 4 on my order. If they work as good for me as they did for you, I will be a pretty happy camper.
