Every Indiana lake in the Louisville COE district is a disaster!

Not many lakes to fish in due to high water, and the ones that are available are getting slammed very hard.

Patoka needs only 0.8 ft to go over the emergency spillway. And still raining right now. I will never understand why COE kept Patoka high all winter when there were many times they could release and didn’t. It’s the reason they lost all the weed beds.

We "had" our annual trip scheduled for Mother's Day weekend to Salimonie, but had to cancel because of the water....

The Corp is going to release more water than normal now. I saw an article in the news today and read about this last week too. They had to get permission from the district HQ in Cincinnatti. The ramps to the docks at Patoka Lake are under water and the water is still rising at the Marina. Some of the decks were under water and the workers put some concrete blocks on the deck to walk on top of so as not to get the feet wet. The beach is way under water.

A friend of mine said that the built the overflow up higher in the past few years and added more rock on the back side of the overflow. I guess that's to prevent the overflow area from washing away if the water goes over the top. It's been years since I saw that overflow area but my memory tells me it was made out of concrete. But my friend said it's not concrete. He said a few years ago when the water got really hight he took his pontoon boat over by the overflow and he could look down the other side of the overflow area as the water was so high.

The fishing at Patoka is bad now as you can't get a boat under the bridges and the fisherman's camp ground launch ramp and walls ramp is all under water.

I live in NE Indiana on a lake. The water looks like chocolate milk.
