    Default Today’s catch!

It finally quit storming and raining about 7 am so I launched in heavy fog and cranked 20 crappie 10 to 13.25” and one 8” red ear. Couldn’t get a hit in shallow water and caught all fish suspended in 12 to 20’ of water at 8 to 10’ deep. Every fish was a female with eggs. Caught 60-70 total. Nobody was fishing deep water as everybody I saw was hammering the banks and the shallows and catching super small fish. Water temp was 63 to 64.5. Needs to quit raining!

    Nice!,

I'm going to go in the morning and try my luck. Hoping if I cant find any eyes, pulling some cranks will produce a mess of crappies.

nice, went to raccoon in afternoon for a couple hrs and caught one little 5 in. crappie vertical jigging, lake is up 9.5ft now and fish seem be really scattered..water temps were 59.5 to 60 degrees.
On the other hand went to Rockville Lake this morning fishing from the bank and caught 40 crappie and a few nice redears.

Nice work with the confitions. Struggled all morning with small crappie, switched to ears and that wasn't happening, the all night storms had major effects. So, ever only other option was catfish, and we slammed them. I'm no pro, but we got at least 30 and just finished a huge fish fry. Gotta make lemonade sometimes.

To get these fish to hit, after a thunder and lots of lightning storm most of the night into the early morning had past, the pattern I found that worked best was I had to criss cross the main creek channel at a speed,of 1.6 to 1.9 mph, with baits running at a average depth of 9’ and a lot of these fish hit as I was making a mid turn to go back across hitting the cranks as the speed and depth would change with the turn. A few hit suspended middle of the creek channel 8-10’ suspended over anywhere from 12’ to 20’ deep depending where my location was following the creek channels and as it intersected with secondary creek channels also. You have to pay attention to your lake map as well as electronics in seeing the fish and sometimes raising or dropping the crankbaits with your different depths. Raising or dropping the depth of the cranks is accomplished by letting more line out, or taking line in. Line counter reels makes this possible. Speed would be changed up by making the turns and sometimes speeding or slowing trolling speed with the turns. Nothing was ever constant. Seeing the creek channel was most important as I used 2d and the 360 also. Hope this explains how I ran my crankbaits as in the springtime with all these weather patterns, most of the time, no 2 days of using crankbaits is ever the same in duplication of fishing with them and you still have to pattern the fish out.

If at first it it doesn’t work, try try again! WTG! Darned fog didn’t burn off till about noon for me and had a wind of about 10 mph till maybe 3 pm.

This is definitely a pretty weird year. I have not been able to catch fish where I have always caught them using crankbaits. I have not been able to catch them next day fishing where I previously found them. I have not caught any big fish shallow yet in 8’ or shallower water. And I haven’t been able to duplicate my fishing patterns. And I haven’t been able to limit out yet with me keeping minimum 10” fish. 64 degree water and I am still trying to figure it all out. And that one 8” red ear was caught 9’ deep suspended over 16’ of water.

Very nice Chuck. Trolling motor only has pretty much been my fishing the last few years. Nice catch hope to catch you again on the water sometime.
