I finally got the yacht out on the water today. My fishing buddy canceled out so it was just Sophie and me. Darn it was cool (40*) , so I had to wear some long johns to take the chill off. We were launched by 8:00am and my boat was returned to me about 15 minutes later. I told Sophie to snap the rope to the front of the boat. She must have misunderstood because the rope was only attached to the truck and trailer. She a great dog but sometimes..... Anyway, luckily a few gentlemen showed up at the ramp. After they quit laughing, they took me to my boat. I'm pretty sure they were continuing to laugh after they left.

So FINALLY, we got underway. We only went maybe a half mile south of the ramp. I knew there should be some bushes there under 10-15 FOW. The lake is still 10.5' high. I got my rods together and got the minnows down about 12'. I saw rocks and trees on the fishfinder, so I figured this was a good area. I ended up catching around a dozen sub-dink size crappie and one itty bitty bluegill that had the minnow in his mouth somehow. The temp of the water was around 51* going up to 54* in some areas.

So it wasn't a real productive day but it was more of a shakedown cruise. We are taking my hairy daughter and his furry son down to Reelfoot in two weeks. So I think everything is good, IF Sophie follows instructions.

Also, PLEASE don't laugh too much if you ever run into me!
