This was a total shock when I heard it. That's where I stopped on my way to Eagle Creek. I was always looking thru the used rods and reels looking for a bargain. Ended up with a few that work darn good for little money. They will be missed.
Another bait and tackle store opened a few months ago in Beech Grove. Adams Outdoors opened at the old bait store. Luckily it's maybe 100 yards away. Me, Sophie and the Grandmonsterswalk down to get bait for the next day. They even offered to come in late one Sunday so I had minnows for the next day. Good ol' customer service, that means a lot to me.
Don't forget the Bait Barn (i think that's the name) around 34th and Arlington. Never been in but I see posts on Facebook about sales and other info.

The only other one I knew of was Eagle Creek Bait and Tackle. But it's closed too. It used to be at Eagle Creek but moved to around Washington & Holt area, I think.
There is another store called Honey Creek shop just South of Bargersville on SR 135. It's nice, lots of fishing tackle, some bait, guns, hunting supplies, archery range and boat/motor repair. It's a nice shop with pretty good prices.

unfortunate for sure but it happens every day somewhere. I don't like on-line shopping at all but it seems there is no stopping it.
my condolences if you read this westside

Same here, Howard also worked on Boats and motors and was always pretty covered up. He was always there all the years I stopped in.
