Dang! I hate to hear that. Another old time tackle shop in Indy going by the wayside and not many if any of the little guys left. This is really going to hurt Indy for live bait and good tackle.
I was just informed that West Side Bait Shop is going out of business. That is going to be a big loss for me. I love that place. They have a large selection of crappie baits and accessories. The way I was informed is that they will be having a sale on November the 10th. If you need some crappie stuff that would be a good place and time to get it.

Man that's too bad can remember going in there 40 yrs or so ago, always liked that place as they seemed to have everything. May sound weird but always liked the smell of it, all the different baits etc.
When we lost Fall Creek Bait And Tackle, then the little shop in Clermont, now West Side Bait And Tackle, that sucks for Indy!

The shop in Clermont my Dad was friends with the owner can remember going in it when I was a kid.
Pretty soon wont be any places left to get bait.. there used to be a place on Lynhurst Dr on the west side believe it was Bakers that was really good also believe they are gone to.
The times, they are a changing!

Howard Wood was the owner if I remember right, "That Place In Clermont." Had the little garage/repair area in the back. Also, a local bass angler with a cable TV show (Jack DeBord) ran out of that shop.
There was also Dandy Trail Bait & Tackle which was a tiny shop that controlled access to the Dandy Trail pay lake which is now The Islands houses and apartments.
Also, Genesco Bait & Tackle on 16th St. just past the Speedway and owned by Gene Robinson, As well as Sutphin's in Speedway closer to Georgetown and 16th St. where a young Dan Basore used to hang out.
cevans thanked you for this post
Verne Trester in Speedway, built all my fenwick custom bass rods, had a really great gun repair also. All gone! I still have 7-8 fenwicks custom built by Verne.
