My oldest Grandson and I went to Cataract yesterday to fish in the Cataract Slab Masters tourney. Having never been in a competition we really didn't expect to do too well. Well, we made our money back plus a few more $$. We started just doing what we normally do, drowning a few minnows. We caught a few down about 15'. Aden decided he wanted to try a nightcrawler and darn if he didn't get a 10.5" crappie. He was tickled to death. So after we ran out of minnows we found a quiet cove to choose our 7 largest fish. We headed to the ramp and waited for the weigh-in. We weren't expecting much except for maybe big fish. We ended up coming in 3rd in total bag and 1st in big fish with a .86 lb crappie. Not huge but big enough. Aden was so happy to fish in a tourney and to win some money (i gave him a few $$ since his fish helped up win). We did come home with 24 crappie, 15 from us and 9 donated from other anglers (I must have looked like I needed more food)

So I want to thank Aden for his help and all of the Cataract Slab Masters for allowing us to win (the scuba diver put the big fish on the right hook i guess). Next week I take the next Grandson, Gabe. He has big shoes to fill.

The trip to Dale Hollow was good. We didn't catch much but it was a relaxing, fun short trip. Beautiful lake and area. And having the bigger, faster boat helped a lot.
