Awesome day of fishing when you can get your girl out and enjoy life as you did.
Well as promised another small report. Hit one of my private ponds today. Didn't get to fish much myself bc was more for everyone else. Now my brothers in his early 20's but isn't much of an outdoorsman. Nor are his friends. But we him, his buddy, his nephew, my wife, my 2 year old daughter and I. Knowing it's a blue gill pond and that the girls wanted to go I grabbed my shovel and set to diggin, and got maybe 50 or 60 good crawlers from the compost heap.
Just as soon as I get everyone set I get my own line wet and my floats gone. Cool but was supposed to be about them. It did however get everyone in the mood. Now I brought 4 poles. Wife's got hers and soon enough I find I've loaned all 3 of my others out. Thats great. I just stood back with my pliers and the coffee can of worms I dug earlier.
My daughters milling around checking out everyone's catch. Throwing rocks in the water etc. The things you expect a 2 yo to do. All the while she has my 5 ft UL. So I decide I was gonna try to get her to fish. She loves when I bring home fish. Or minnows. She loves the minnow bucket itd her favorite..lol. so I hook a worm and throw it out 20 ft or so from the bank. She reeling super slow. Got the tip in the mud but fishing. Telling everyone about it. I'm elated. Then her float disappers..My baby girl just caught her first fish!! At 2 years old. (Dont tell no body daddy had to help cast it and reel it in. Lol)
I dont know exactly how many we pulled out today. I dont care. I think I caught 3. Like i said i bait hooks, casted, tied on hooks, reeled in, and pulled fish off for everyone else but myself. And I wouldn't have traded it for the world.
I will say this..it is and prolly will forever be the best fishing trip I've ever had. To see 5 other people smiling and laughing and having a great time bc I was able to help and guide them. We might have used 2 whole packs of #6 hooks, half a pack of split shots, and the last of my crappie minnows, but who cares? I will never forget today.
Didn't get a lot of pics but I got one of my baby girl and her fish.
Awesome day of fishing when you can get your girl out and enjoy life as you did.

Another one to add: short and sweet. Private pond. Temps was 60-70s outside. Same lake I flipped kayak in a few weeks back. Super deep i know that. Minnows under a float for me. 1-2 ft deep tight to shore. Only got 1 crappie. A smaller white bout 9 inches. But got into some nice brim. Couple LMB that were all released. 1 small catfish (maybe 3 lbs tops) on my UL with 4lb test. That was fun. Fished from the kayak today...nothing like yesterday but was fun none the less
Nice BG
Nice fish!

Dinner time!
Another public land report:
Took the kayak out yesterday for 5 or 6 hrs, in search of the elusive sac a lait. Hillenbran FWA. Water was clear. A guy in a bass tracker also showed up. His depth finder said 7 ft...but seemed like he was reading the vegetation on the bottom. I was running about 12 ft of anchor rode to bottom. Then paying out more for slack. Just idk. 70° or better outside. Water was warm enough to the touch.
Anyhow miners under a float 2-5ft. On structure. Wasn't super productive, but the bites were good. Ended up with 2 casting out the float. 1 trolling to another spot(as the line wrapped up in the stringer...30 min fiasco with one on the line.) And the last one trolling with an electric chicken BGBS on a arkie jig head. 4 ft under a float. Not sure of speed. Slow soft paddle.
1 LMB was released.
Public land in the kayak. Mainly minnows under a float. Few trolling jigs but was too small. Kept 1 lil guy bc he inhaled my jig and tore his tongue and gill up. Biggest was 12 in. Kept 6 plus the lil dude.
