    Default Bluegill on Lake Monroe

Does Monroe have any large size bluegill? I have fished it many times in many different places on both side of the causeway, and all I find are 6 inches or smaller. I have fished with jigs and live bait, but cannot locate any big ones. Can anyone help me with this.

When fishing Monroe this summer, I find larger nice gills in 12' to 20' fishing the shallow points on main lake that eventually dump into the Creek channel, if you can stand the rocking and rolling from the jet skis and boat traffic. The better gills are there but it's more like structure fishing. Small spinner baits with pieces of night crawler as well as hair jigs, rr with Curley tails or other plastics are my fav. baits. You can locate them even long lining in search patterns. I also would find nice schools of larger crappies on main lake fishing like this. The fish are there, just have to locate them.

Different fishermen uses different technics as well as fish different locations especially when you have 10k acres to fish. Good luck as J & R does a good job.

We used to drag crickets along the rock bluffs down by the dam. Just a #6 wire hook and a split shot. At least 15 feet deep. Seemed to be a good way to get a mess of good eaters. Best bluff had condos on top at the entrance to Sugar Creek
