    Default Where should I go?

Ok, my wife keeps asking me what I want for Father's Day, and I'm thinking about asking for an afternoon fishing by myself. However, I don't have a boat, so I'll be fishing from shore. I need some advice on where to go, looking for some place relatively close to Columbus. Cagles Mill is just about the limit of how far I'd like to drive. CM and Monroe water levels are still high, but might be down by this weekend. Brookville is near pool. Where would y'all go if you're restricted to shore? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!!!!
    Dave

that's a loaded question, I know where a lot of people would tell me to go, but that's another story.
Good Luck on finding a spot, I've been known to fish the handicapped pier at Patoka, but I don't know if I will very often any more as my handicapped fishing buddy died a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, I'd like to avoid the where to go and how to get there comments myself

I'm leaning toward Brookeville since I have not been there in years. Maybe I should get my wife's permission, first.

If your looking at Monroe, you could fish under hwy bridge at Cutright as well as a mile or 2 of bank at Cutright. Same at Allens Creek and Hardin Ridge area and also Paynetown SRA as the lake is low enough to walk along the banks in spots now and fishable. Drive and hit here and there. Same for Brookville. Hit a few diff spots. Just be sure and take skeeter dope as they ate me up especially at 5:30 am to about 7 am and finally had to use the spray. Wind finally calmed the bugs down.

Have you tried any of river fishing in the Columbus area? Driftwood and Flatrock both have some awesome smallmouth fishing. I would guess the rain probably has them muddied up right now. Several great ponds up at Atterbury with lots of spots to bank fish.

I think I'd agree with jpdawg. Although I hate being confined to a bank, the rivers can be pretty accessible. I'm close to columbus (Greensburg) and have several Kayaks you could borrow if you want to hit Flatrock for some smallies. Just PM me. flatrock holds some fatties for sure.

With the recent rain I think the rivers might be out of question for this weekend however..

It's Cypress Lake, it has a nice boat launch and adequate parking, never crowded but there is almost always someone on the decent size small lake, trolling only.
Wife and I have fished it several times but only from bank with so-so results.
