I used to bass fish the heck out of Monroe.in the 70,s thru the early 90's and then about 10 yrs ago started crappie fishing it and left it alone last couple of years. But one thing I noticed today no buck brush in Saddle creek on the east side and up at Pine Grove it's all gone, It's not submerged by the 7.8' high water as it's just gone. Went all the way about a mile above Pine Grove into the flooded fields and no fish anywhere out of the Creek channel of North Fork Salt Creek. I did catch 70 crappies today and they wouldn't hit the crankbaits, but the slammed the jigs long lining about 0.4 to 1.0 mph and every fish was a dink under 9". Couldn't buy a hit in 15' or deeper water even tho I did chart fish and tried to cast a couple of spots as tons of fish suspended. Need to fish the flooded timber and brush next to the banks to find the keepers. They are there, but you will have to really work for them and sort the dinks out. Water temp got up to 76. 10 mph breeze today. Water clarity is perfect finally and DNR now has the high water launch ramp open to use at Cutright finally. Got home at 6 pm thru heavy storms and so far 1.5 inches of rain again.
