    Default Mississinewa Levels

Not to sound like a 80's REO Speedwagon hit BUT...Heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from another.... ANYWAY...
A buddy of mine tells me that he heard from a friend, who was told by someone with the Army Corps of Engineers, that later this spring (after Memorial Day) lake levels at Mississinewa will be well over summer pool due levels at Salamonie being dropped to near winter pool for dam repair. I have talked to others who have heard there are dam issues at Salamonie but thats it, no one knows when repairs are to start or how those repairs will affect levels elsewhere. This all seems somewhat logical to me, levels being up at Roush and Missi due to restricted out flow, but the timing of it all, (why fill just to drain) has me thinking I am being fed a line of $#!T, just trying to get my blood pressure up, knowing Missi is one of my favorite places to fish. Can anyone, in the know or not, shed a little light on this claim?

I would say your friend is "messin around on you." Ha couldn't help myself. Anyway the levels of Salamonie and Mississinewa are independent of each other. Just because one is down doesnt mean the other will be up. You brought up some good points about dam repair. If I had to guess I would say Mississinewa would be the one getting repaired. They have been drilling through the dam at various spots and have a portable stoplight up for traffic control. I will do some checking around. The Army Corp is closed for the day. I will post what I find out.

Yeah I get that all 3 are independent, my thought was that the out let flow would be scaled back at Roush and Missi if they were bringing Salamonie levels down.

Nope, all 3 dump into the Wabash. When Missy was down for repairs for 5 years they didn't hold Sally back over summer pool any more than they do now when we receive high amounts of rain.

As far as buddy's with the inside info, I got to share this. My son in law's coworker told him " I know a DNR guy and he said not to tell anyone but the white bass run was coming early this year " So ya, the buddy BS get's slung from time to time LOL

Interesting to see this thread. Was fishing last week down at the spillway and the guy next to me told me he heard that it was Missy with the issues and that it may not be kept at summer pool this year. They are doing some kind of work right now on the dam and it is requiring a traffic light to control traffic up there. Oh yeah, the crappie are biting down there too

Seen that myself. Looked like drill rigs. Maybe putting in monitoring wells?

As far as water levels they are filling Mississinewa and Salamonie. Take a look at the lake report and you will see.
