Another job well done!
Got on the lake at 7:30 am and after 20-30 minutes of crankin in 10-12' of water near banks like last week,,no go,,so went to river channel,,and cranked down along it in 10-12' of water and after another 30 minutes, figured that if I zig zaged across the channel back and forth, fish were on the breaks of the channel and next 4 hours culled and measured out 10.5 to 14" limit. Also caught 6 yellow ringed perch of which one was 13.5" that I kept and you will see that fat sucker in the pic of the cooler. Caught 1 lg. mouth bass, and 6 yellow bass also as well as 40-50 other crappies below 10.5 were released. Long day so didn't take a pic of the fish all layed out. Water temp started at 76.5 and ended up at 1:30, 83.5. Very light wind out of the east. Temp cracked 90 by the time I got the boat on the trailer and road. Umbrella was used to break the high noon sun. In cleaning the fish, all but 2 of the largest females had spawned!!!!! I think that was why it was kind of a hit and miss day till I started the zig zagging across the creek channel in mid lake. Post Spawn crappies!

Chuck your killing me here. I haven't been out since Memorial weekend when we fished Old Hickory. We pulled cranks there mostly too, some bass fishing. We actually targeted Walleye on cranking came up with a few good ones in the mouth of creek channels. Been so busy with the business working 6 days a week next fishing outing we will be targeting Alaska King Salmon. Thanks for all the posts and comments. Like I said your killing me I try to stay away from here so I don't see them lol. Great job pulling.
Long time no see gone_fishing! Billbob and I got out last Thurs for about 5 hrs on Cataract and cranked keeping 10 up to 12" and released maybe 30 or so under 10". Glad to get Billbob out as he has had some medical issues and hadn't been out at all since Jan. All cleaned fish were females as they are still spawning at the Cat full of eggs except 3 that had spawned. Pics on main forum titled "got out" by Billbob. Where you targeting Alaska Kings at??? Last time I got into kings was when Lake Mich was on fire with them.

Chuck its great to hear you got Billbob out. I didn't realize he was dealing with back issues. I don't know him but always love his comments. I got a charter captain booked at Skagway for the salmon fishing which wouldn't of been my first choice but was the best choice that I saw considering time available. We are doing a land and sea vacation so part of the time we are in Canada. We are taking a wait and see approach but there are places you can rent poles etc., fight the crowds and go to a stream. We may do something like that too. This charter captain says we will see whales close up with a maximum of 6 people on the boat, so sounded like a nice experience. I have heard from locals at Rochester NY their is really good salmon fishing too. My son lives at Syracuse so that walleye fishing up there may some day be on my bucket list too. Usually when we got to NY though I bass fish one day. My son is a big bass fisherman and I have never been disappointed fishing the Finger Lakes and other areas around Syracuse.
Awesome trip planned and hope you give a report on the fishing. I know you will enjoy. I have enjoyed being up close to the whales while yellow fin tuna fishing out of Noank, Ct on the East coast as well as formerly stationed a short time on west coast. They are quite the ultimate experience. Hope it happens for you as well.
