Good report..I have never fished coon before but I have been wanting to get out there and try it
Went to the coon today fish were active but size was small. We spider rigged and did catch a few good ones. Fish were over deeper water and suspended. Caught a few on jigs in the afternoon on cover.

Fishinfred We will be there Thu - Sunday. What was the water temp and clarity? We are from Northern Indiana any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Some one said the coon changes, they got that right. Been fishing down their for several years now. My luck has been if the spawn is on just check any of the coves South of the swimming area at the park, or north of the 36 bridge. Depending on water height I have also done pretty good around Portland mill ramp and up the river some. If its down low and windy would not advise going to far North past the 36 bridge. When you start to get to the high rock walls on the East. In a small boat you might have 4 ft swells coming at you. If you do go up North to the river at the high rock walls on the East before Portland Mills ramp is a painted rock. Look NW for anther marker that is the channel line you want to stay in. As for bait/lures the guys I run with go with minnows and 6 to 8 lb line. I run a bass assassin curly tail jig or a Brownstown jig (private made) tipped with bee moth an 10 lb spider mono line. I normally out fish the guys I'm with 3 to 1 fish with my set up.. ...They say you are not crappie fishing if you are not losing hooks
Thanks for the report guys. I am leaving in the morning at cant wait. I have never been that far north to the river. I will be sure ti give it a try. thanks for the info.
