    Default the struggle is real.

Alright guys I haven't ever fished much after ice out but I have been out two times since ice out
First was home lake eagle creek and went back to where I was catching them in the fall and marked No fish.
So I went to my milk run of places and no luck there either. I would pick some up here and there but nothing that I wanted to stop and fish
Went to geist today after work and only market them in the main channel just here and there. Tried fishing them but it was brutully windy and couldn't keep boat in position..
Tried the shallows where a buddy told me to hit And casted jigs all around the timber with no luck....anyone care to give me a little advice. I cast jigs. I was using small 1.5 plastics with a 1/16 is jig with a very slow retrieval
I idled along the banks that were getting pounded with waves and didn't Mark anything there either. I'm on the struggle bus And Need some help please.

Water is still too cold for those areas. Pay attention to where the river and creek channels meet then move up the creek. Pay attention to the points that come out to the channel. Edge of flats next to the channel. Also areas where the channel meets and leaves the bank. Your fishing spring/fall warmer water temp areas. It would also be a good time to learn how to drop shot.
With plastics dont be afraid to step up to 1/8 thru 3/8 heads. Save the 1/16 for when they are shallow.
Find the food, the fish will be close

shallow water can never be out of the question this time of year. I know guys that was catching big ones in 3 to 5 ft of water This past weekend. Some of my bigger fish have come from 6 ft and less this time of year. Will depend on water clarity, Bait and sunshine.
This time of year I like to use a more vertical presentation, dead sticking or a small float and small jig, or hair jig. When you think your fishing slow enough, fish slower. Fish are most likely to be stuck to the bottom in this situation

Really 3-5 ft this time of year? What's the reasoning on that?

Points, main lake flats close to channel with stumps/laydowns. Fish it extremely slow. 10ft deep or shallower

out on points next to some deep water and the shallow up on points. The struggle-bus will be making a lot of stops this time of year. Good luck

Yeah I tried slip bobber with jig but it was just too windy for that when I went. Conditions were harsh when I went out. But thanks for everyone's input. Going to put it to use on Saturday. Oh ya one more question. What's everyone preferred plastic and size for this time of year
