I wanted to fish BASS but they wouldn't change the tournament schedule to fit my days. That makes them unfair? If you want to fish you will find a way to be there. People always do what they want to do. Self pity is not becoming.

So......let's just put this in perspective. There is a club in the state that typically brings in 5 to 8 times the amount of teams that the current Cataract Slab Masters does. The irony is that there have been a few teams that have fished with CSM and one team fishes CSM as much as ISM. When these teams show up, they mop the floor with the rest of you. You are so right.....self pity is very unbecoming.

Filet, who said anything about this being a competition? This a group of guys that just like to get together and fish. Where's the harm or problem with this? I have fished a few times with them and have always had fun. I wanna fish the ISM but right now my kids have baseball and other activities on the weekend that I'm not wanting to miss in order to fish. I'm fortunate enough to have a work schedule that I can fish during the week some times. But, to get on here and talk like that because a few guys want to put a club together and just enjoy the outdoors...

Call it what you want, I play golf during the week as well. Why? Mentioned it earlier but will repeat it. It fits my current schedule better with kids, etc. It has nothing to do with "certain individuals" showing or not showing up. I personally enjoy and encourage competition. I win with grace and lose with grace. But to call it "segregation" just because it works better for an individual or they choose to do it during the week. I don't support that!

Did you look at the MSM website? It says the following:This goal will be accomplished through a series of low key tournaments aimed at the average Crappie fisherperson. By competing in these tournaments you will be able to talk to fellow Crappie enthusiasts; and, hopefully enhance your knowledge and skill level all in a friendly club environment.

I don't see anywhere on there where it say anything regarding one team "mopping the floor" with the other. Bottom line these guys are just looking for some fun while fishing. They shouldn't be bashed for it!

I don't get it. Someone is trying to do something good for crappie fishing in Indiana; and, they are getting bashed for their efforts. The way I read what they are trying to do says that anyone in any club in the state can fish in the State Tournament. That means that ISM could join the Indiana Crappie Federation; and, send their best teams to the State tournament. In fact they would be warmly welcomed. ISM can still run their club anyway they want. Then at the end of the year ISM can send their teams. The ICF is not trying to control anyone. If ISM teams are the best, they will get the trophies. No one is trying to dodge them. In fact ISM members have fished in several Cataract Slab Masters tournaments. Right now it looks like there are 3 crappie clubs in Indiana. But, if someone can't fish in one of them due to their schedule, they can easily start their own club; and, fish when they want. It is hoped that more clubs will be formed; and, more areas of the state will be represented. Do your thing during the year; then, come together for one tournament to see who is the best in the state. That's the only way to see if Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday not withstanding Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday is the best. You have got to start somewhere; and, this is a start. So rather than raining on the parade, how about banding together like true sports people to see how we can get this to succeed.

instead of having "non-competition" tournaments why not just get together go fishing for a while then come in and go to lunch or dinner someplace and talk about how where and on what you caught your fish on? Sounds like a good way to learn a few things to me

Hey Wannabe. Whatever gave you the impression that these tournaments are not competitive. Check the weigh in weights; and, see how they stack up against other clubs. Maybe you need to come out and fish in one to see if you're competitive. I assure you you would be welcome. These guys welcome everyone. They don't have anything to prove. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to check people in; and, weigh their fish when they are done.

Yikes! I think everybody should take s deep breathe here. I can see where both sides are coming from here, but let's take a more dimplomatic approach, as we have a lot of great crappie anglers not just in skill, but personality in this state. I personally know what it takes to be on the front lines of starting up a club, and it's not easy, and the level of passion it takes is immense. ISM is a GREAT club with GREAT board members, and has been very successful. CSM and MSM is looking to fill a niche, and I wish them success! Bottom line is have a good time. No doubt, just like CUSA and CrappieMasters you're going have opinions about each other's level of competition and environment, it's natural. However, even they have a niche, and will be competing vigorously for top level talent in the years to come, and it's done so with the product... All for the benefit of who? Us crappie fisherman! Can't we leave it at that?

According to the Indiana Crappie Federation web sight all cubs are welcome to fish the tournament on 10/9/16. So it is open to any club including the ISM people, who have some very find fisherman competing. I would think all clubs would want to fish this tournament just to promote Crappie fishing.. Most fisherman I know say crappie fishing is for old men and little kids and not a serious sport fish like Bass or Walleye and that anyone can catch crappie. I have only crappie fished for a couple years now and find it to be fun, but my bassin buddies have poked fun at me calling it not serious fishing... Go fish and have fun!!!!!
