some of you mite not have ever seen a turnip this big before. my uncle grows them in his garden. i picked this
19 pounder today. purple top turnip. not "woody" like you mite think either. pass the salt brothers. can you imagine the gas potential of these things.

havent opened it yet but it feels a sounds(thumps like a water mellon) still good. uncle said he cut one last week and it was same as the lil ones.
I never could handle the taste of them, but I do like to go out to the food plots in February and use them for target practice. After months of freezing and thawing, they work their way the surface, especially in the bottom ground. Great fun with a .22! I consider it spreading fertilizer.
My turnips this year weren't any good. I planted them it rained nicely then got really dry and the turnips grew slowly and were woody. I hope yours are better.
cut it open last night and it was good. chomped 2 entire slices. this mornings trumpet blast was impressive enough to wake the old lady! and we live by a train crossing!
