The River is possibly our best fishery, by size of fish standards. Any creek or backwater that holds a few feet of water can hold crappie at one time or another. I have mainly fished the Markland Pool in recent years, but I have no doubt that the fishing throughout the river system is good to great. As water temps plummet, look for them in places that receive the least amount of current. They don't like much current to begin with, but they can handle very little of it once their body temps get low. This makes the creeks a pretty sweet place....
