Crappie USA Tournament

Coming to Patoka Lake next week to fish in the Crappie USA tournament and wandering how the crappie fishing is right now. Never been on patoka,not looking for waypoints or honey holes, just wandering if someone would give me a little information on what's going on

Slab Slayer

I fished the lake for the first time 2 weeks ago prior to the closure for the tournement.

My observations


1) Nice lake with good ramps

2) a good 30 min drive from most of the lodging options except those right on the lake

3) Lots of cover in the lake, many trees in the main lake and coves

4) fish were scattered

5) Water was 5 above summer pool after being at flood stage most of the summer its falling now about 0.1 foot a day

6) SPEED limits all over the lake so watch that

I have never been to a tournament and thought it may be interesting to go to a weigh in. Is there any benefit in going? Anything to learn?

you can learn how much better those guys fish than I do

sometimes they will tell the technique used what kind of bait and how they fished it, but don't expect them to tell you where. LOL
