    Default Muncie?

Looks like I may be moving to Muncie. What should I expect from the area? I currently live in a golden crappie triangle in Illinois, Rend, Crab Orchard and Lake of Egypt.
I have Southern blood in me and I've never been so far north...and I'm a little nervous about the move.

I understand moving when opportunity requires but I have no words of great hope for you. Youngest son lives in Muncie and I had kids at Ball State starting in 1997. Winters suck. Crappie are no where close to what you are used to. I wouldn't live there for any amount of money.

I won't be quite as harsh as the other guy, but no more power plant fishing, that's for sure! The ice is good in the winter, if you care to give that a shot. During the soft water season, look to Mississinewa and Salamonie. Lots of good fish in the 1-1.5 lb range, with bigger fish being more sparse. Prairie Creek, Summit, and some of the other smaller reservoirs can still produce decent numbers, but hog heaven is a far cry. Good luck....

As someone else mentioned I strongly suggest giving ice fishing a try i in the wintertime. It is my favorite style of fishing.

Save some fishing money and buy a snow blower. You're gonna need it!!! As for me I'll stay right where I'm at. 10 minutes to Crab, 20 to Lake of Egypt and 35 to Rend!!!

hey tracker, just checked out the area where your from and i understand your concern. which of those three lakes is your favorite? what quality of crappie do you usually expect from there? remember too that its not too far away to make an occasional trip back. good luck with the crappie here, its still alot of fun and isnt that really the bottom line?

Ok tater, I have a boat on rend, but I fish crab the most. Fished it yesterday for three hours and came home with 8 between 12 and 15 inches with a bunch of dinks in between. My freezer stays full and I supply my parents and brothers family for the year. Around here a dink is anything under 10 inches.
