    Default Patoka fishing report...11/12/06

Water temp was 54/55 on top everywhere we went. Pulled up to my first brushpile at around 10:30am and caught fish one after another until it became almost to easy..We fished four bruspiles in the same area and we each got a limit of 9" to 12" fish with most running around 9"/10" in size. Those fish are so fat that you would think they are ready to spawn. I even threw a pearl colored jig on a 3/32oz lead head and caught them after counting in down to around 14'. We were fishing brushpiles located in about 25' of water and since the lake is still way high the fish were around 8' to 16' in most places. I even caught some stripers by letting the jig go all the way to the bottom and reeling it in very slowly. When we started catching stripers the crappie seem to quit so we kept moving to other places nearby. Overall we had a great day of fishing and didn't see over 5/6 boats all day. I fished in the lick fork area all day. Lots of fish in/over the cover when you find it. If the weather holds stable for the next month there should be good fishing for those who are willing to give it a try. I can't fish this coming weekend because my wife and I are headed to Norfolk Naval base to see my youngest before he heads to iraq in Jan. If the weather is halfway decent the following weekend I'll be after them again. Most were caught on minnows tightlinning with two Sam Heaton Super Sensitive rods...6lb line with very little split shot. Those rods are the most sensitive rods I've seen in my life for crappie. The tips are so soft any movement signals a fish most of the time. Well that's about it for now my bowl of chili is ready....

    Good fishing to all.......Larry

    Default Great report

Great report. Wish I was closer to you to hit it. I'm hoping to come down next Spring. Any suggestions for a newbie to Patoka?
