    Default Mushrooms up??

Went to Greene County for a funeral yesterday. During the luncheon my cousin showed me a pic her friend had sent of mushrooms she had found. Given the date, I maintained it was an fools day trick. Cous says no, they were found on sand and the friend finds them early every year. Just don't know but I saw a thread on another find. So maybe so.

guy brought in 7 pecker heads he just picked to wife's place she works at at bedfed yesterday,,and they had alittle sand in them..I told the wife..its too early to suck me in to hit the woods and hump the hills for those. I know a couple of hillsides at Monroe,,that I could hit by boat,,and its all but straight up.

Have fun with elusive shrooms. I've yet to spot any of those-- or unicorns for that matter.

I've searched for em every year and have yet to find any. Hopefully, I'll develop an eye for em this year at my new, southern location.

When I wasn't looking for em in the past, I'd find em...when I go out to look for em, I can't find any...sigh...guess I'll just stick to the fishin.
Roaming the banks of the Kankakee River and anywhere else fish might lurk.

Hit the state parks if you don't have anywhere to go. Spring Mill, Turkey Run, McCormicks. Shades,,Brown Co., to name a few.,all good for the shrooms. Got to be there first tho. By boat,,,Any of the areas around the lakes is good too. North sides of the slopes and hillsides holds the most moisture and minerals for best growth. Poplar, Elm, Sycamore, Ash, old fruit trees---look around them for starters.
