looks like a great day on the ice! I went out on Brookville the other day and with a hand auger tried to drill 10in of ice. needless to say I was wore out by the end of the day.
Here are some pics of some nice gills we caught this evening. There was three of us fishing about 11 ft water in a small 2 acre private lake. Ice was 8 1/2 to 9 inches. Caught on white ice jig with bee moth / wax worm. Started about 3:30pm stopped around 5:30. We had a combined total of around 50-55 fish 90% of them were 9 inches long. Nice solid fish. When it started getting dark the other two guys started with minnows and lanterns over the holes. I had to leave but this way of fishing will produce some nice crappie after dark (if there are nice crappie in the lake to start with). The light will bring them to hole. It does work if you can stand the cold after the sun goes down. I really gets cold.

Very nice.
I hit Brookville today and the catfish were biting real good so I stuck with them and ended up catching around 20 cats. there were a few other guys out and they said they caught quite a few crappie about fifteen foot down.
What were the cats hitting on? Very nice fishing!!!
Nice catch!
Semper Fidelis!
I had some old shad in a cooler that I caught a few weeks ago. pieces of the guts on a jig head got the best action ,but also caught some on small piece of fillet. I didn't have a finder but was fishing at the edge of timber on a creek channel. I know from fishing the area in the warmer months that the water was about 40ft +or-. I would just drop it to the bottom and lift up a foot and drop it back down. they would hit it sitting still but it seemed they liked it better with alittle action. tomorrow I am going to focus more on the crappie.
the ice is clearer the further out you go and you could see a lot of winter killed shad thru the ice. a couple days ago I just drilled a hole where ever I seen shad in the ice and use those for bait.
