New member here, and first time post not sure if I am to break this down but here are a few things I found out fishing Lake Waveland this last Saturday 27. I asked the lady at the gate if their is a 9 inch size on the crappie and she said it was brought up and voted on at the spring meeting but fell short to be passed. So it is nice jester to throw back any thing smaller than 8 to let them grow. 2nd Their is the tournaments on the weekends, so it is a heck of a site to see all those boats out a running. I would of liked to been that guy who thought he caught a record bass on a crawfish crank bait in the tourney, but turned out to be a 22 pound catfish. 3rd I walked out with 3 crappie 9 to 12 range and 5 bluegills. I tried every color of jig I had and minnows. Water temps ran from 53 to 57 on the area I was at also green to brownish water. Probably due to all the rain ah late and extra boats for the day.

Woman at the gate told me the 9 inch limit was in effect, and will be in new park hand out. Seems to many cooks in the kitchen @ park gate.
Not a big deal to me I don't keep any under 10 anyways

That channel is always great, if you go just past that there's some downed trees in a hole thats about 10' deep that's usually good for a few too.

I stopped by Waveland yesterday and the DNR was doing a creel survey. I mentioned that it was my understanding that there was a 9in limit on crappie this year. He said that it was not true. The waveland park group wanted to put on a
9in limit and put it ona brochure, but they did not go thru the DNR which controls the lake so they can not enforce it. It does not make any difference to me as I try to set a 10in limit on what I keep.

Fished Waveland on 05/08 for the morning. Main lake water temp 67 found 72 in a cove. Clairity was good for Waveland. Caught about 20 7-8.5 inchers and brought home 6 that were between 10-11inches. Just enough for my family. All fish were caught 12' deep over 18-20. They wouldn't touch a jig of any color I have and couldn't find any shallow. Caught them drifting a live minnow on a drop shot rig. Hope this helps somebody!
