    Default Boat flooring

I've ripped out the old floor in my boat, and am in the process of installing a new one. I will be done in the next day or two, and can't decide on what to put in for floor covering. I don't want carpet again, I have been thinking of the bed liner type covering, or maybe floor paint with a little sand mixed in, or even a big rubber mat cut to fit. The rubber mat is kinda what I'm leaning toward right now, but don't know where to get one big enough. Anybody else have and suggestions? I'm open to anything right now.

    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I looked at that on the website, but I couldn't really tell what it was. Does it have a rough surface? Sometimes its hard to shop online.

the thick rubber mats that your looking for,,check out horse tack shops,,they carry it,,normally in 4' x 4' or 4' x 6' sizes about 1" thick,,I see it in the horse shows all the time in the tack shop booths. You can also check out Rural King and other farm shops,,,I think they carry it,,,if you do want carpet,,get the marine carpet at lowes,,comes on 12' wide rolls that they cut for you,,it don't powder and will take a beating and weather ok,,i use it and it has lasted more than a couple of years and still looks good,,like i said,,i get mud on it when hunting,,and power wash it off out of jon boat. Blood doesn't stain it either..

I used a truck bed mat that I cut to fit. The extra pieces are what I use to sit the gas can on to help it from sliding around. It is easy to lift out and pressure wash if it get's too dirty. It doesn't slide around the bottom of the boat. I have not slipped on it when it has rained. The mat also helps deaden noise like tackle boxes sliding or anchors moving. Overall, I like it and would use a rubber mat in any jon boat. The mat I have is about 5/16" - 3/8" thick.

I use the fake turf that you can put down on patios, for the top of my bench seats and front deck of the boat. This stuff has straight fibers that won't allow hooks to snag like they do with carpeting. I use this for sound deadening.

Is the base floor still wood? I have been thinking about tearing out the wood floor on my boat and replacing it with aztec decking which is man made and contains no wood--won't rot. I don't know anyone who has done this. Lowe stinger boats have a alumiun floor; that would be my choice if I bought a boat.
