    Default Dogwood

Got done with the log home today. Heading to Dogwood Friday. They are still catching some good gills and red ears. What my buddy is telling me. So going to see if they are lying to me. Should be a good day anyway. If all else falls I will chase some crappies around.

    Get some good pics!

One good thing about muddy water, they can't see you either. Good luck!

Your timing may be good. Gills got really turned on around 2:30. We found some but the numbers were tuff to get before then. The barometic pressure has been coming down all evening and that will only make it better. I will be there too! I put in on the south ramp today. The water is only slightly off color but not muddy. Don't know what the east end looks like now. BTW, the south ramp had the most traffic I have ever seen today, waiting line to get in and out. Lot's of big boats going in there nowadays.

I saw one big boat today that was way over 10 mph. But then, I also saw a kid way over 10 running a 9.9. Most of the stumps are deep enough not to be a problem right now but that will change. Notice I said "most", you know that lake and what is lurking just beneath the surface.

Dogwood has a way of humbling even the most experienced on it. Hunted it for 8 years and learned to run it in the dark without any light until I got close to where I was hunting. Never forget the first time I hunted with a local that had hunted and fished it from Day1 and still fishes it. We took off from the main ramp in the dark and he had a kitted 9.9 running wide open. Running along just fine in open water and we hit a stump. Only comment from him was "wasn't there yesterday!!!" With a big outboard its' only a matter of time until somebody destroys a lower, rips off a transom or puts a hole in the bottom of that big boat. But I guess that's what "learnin" is all about.

Years ago, I was duck hunting Reelfoot with a friend of mine that was a guide/resort owner there,,invited to hunt at no charge,,with him and his banker buddy,,well, his banker buddy paid a kid to go out and stake off a running lane to their favorite blind all the way across the lake to the marsh setup,,the banker made us ride in his boat, big huge 18ft flatbottom, 2 dogs, guns, 4 of us, and a 60 hp merc..and he ran the whole run,,clear cross the lake, wide open in the dark, with his spot lights on front of boat to lite the way,,and Al and the rest of us kinda freaked,,we never hit one stump,,about a month later, ,,,Al calls me,,says banker buddy,,finally hit a stump,,,ripped the motor right off and the transiem of that boat and all but sank,,It happens,,and will happen,,somehow that stump just grows over nite!!!

It's funny how arrogance and an egocentric attitude are directly proportional to income level a majority of the time.

IMO stump fields and boat ramps are the two funniest places on any lake...

+1 Love the guys that have their wives back the boat(Probably because they can't) and then yell at them for being stupid.
