    Default Northeat corner

Finally had a chance to get out today, and I was kind of surprised. Got a nice mess of gills, crappie wouldn't cooperate early on so I stuck with the gills. On the way to the ramp this evening I was stripping a little streamer parallel to the shore and started getting some crappie. Was amazed to find that they hadn't spawned out yet. Eggs are pretty intact. Didn't have the locator with me, not sure what the water temp is, but seemed strange that they hadn't done the deed yet.

I really wish I didn't, but I do mind. It's public, but it's less than a hundred acres, ain't no way I'm throwing the name out here. Sorry. But I am talking Steuben County. This rain, these temps, this weekend should be good for either species, just got a feeling that if the water warms a few degrees it'll really be hopping. I"m heading north for mushrooms, wish I could be in two places at once because I think a jig/fly/minnow danced close to the bank would get some slabs. That's where I found the crappie Saturday, casting parallel to the shore.
