As of now shafer is where I am heading on Saturday. Thanks for the heads up
Went out yestarday and did ok, cleaned 18. (I hate to clean fish) The day was gray over cast with air temp going from 42 to 56. Wind was out of the east @ 10 mph with it laying down to 5 out of the N.E. when I quit. The water temp was 47. Most of the nice ones were in deep water sitting about 5' off the bottom. My weapon of choice was a 1/32 jig with a jig which I retrieved with a very slowly.
Hey Craig time to get your boat out!

There are two boat ramps on shafer. One at the indiana beach campgrounds and one just north where the monon flows into the lake and it is located at the trailer court. There is 2 bait shops close however I will have to let the locals tell you the street and directions to them
breezy hill is on the same side as the 2 ramps but farther north on the lake the ramp at the trailer court is across the street from tall timbers marina. it is the best ramp as far as I am concerned. $10 fee There is another at the lows bridge but you have to fight the side current going under the bridge. (Hate that) Breezy hill bait shop is about a mile north of the ramp. Look for signs and you can't miss it. You turn left at the pit stop gas station and then you go straight though the curve and it will be on the left. They are a nice older couple that own it. can't beat the prices. ONLY PLACE I SHOP. They make their own stuff and take pride in their work and don't show it in their price. 6 jig heads for a buck. and they eyes are cleaned out already. love that. She also ties jigs by hand and has a good selection.
There is also a ramp on East Shafer drive which is a nice ramp. Indiana Beach has a ramp and the boat rental place near the Indiana Beach (west Shafer drive). I use the ramp that eric3338 uses. It is called Big Monon Camp. Their phone number is 1-574-583-8696. They have lots of parking! Again as eric3338 said Breeze Hill is the place!!! it is owned by Carolyn and Ted Crockett the items they make are 1st class. If you go there bring extra money because you are not going to believe the prices! There phone number is 1-219-253-8323.

Good job. We used to have a cabin up the big monon and I learned to fish there. Last time I was up there the monon and most of the upper part of the main lake had really filled up with silt. Used to be 15 feet in front of our cabin and now it is less than 10 feet.
they have been dredging it out but the high water the last few years just fills it in. North of big monon gets shallow so watch out. There is some good fishing up there, but you might pay for with more than a ramp fee and some gas.
