been such a strange year as far as the ice goes, be hard to set a blanket statement. The further north you go, the better your odds. Most places did suffer melt-off from the rain and warm-up we had last week. places that had good ice, should be good, places that melted off will need another day/night or 2 like this. Just be cautious, and use your head.

P.s i checked a pond yesterday that did not melt off, and it had only 2-3" both new ice, and the ice that didnt melt, ponds usually are the first to freeze up and first to ice-out, i would be careful with the ponds.
