I know this is a little early since we have the Monroe tournament next saturday (4/25) but here is some information for anyone wanting to go up to Shafer / Freeman and scout out the area:

We are going to be doing the sign up and weigh in at:

Big Monon Camp Ramp
4816 N. West Shafer Dr.
Monticello, IN 46960
Mngr.: Bill Burton
(574) 870-3066

It costs $10.00 to launch here, but they can handle up to 50 boats, and they have reserved the date (5/9) for us. Unfortunately it is a single lane ramp, but if we are all efficient we will make it work. They also have a concrete pad to park our trailer on. Bill also said he would have a golf cart that will transport people from the ramp to their trucks. There is a 8 boat bass tournament going out that morning, but he is not letting any other groups reserve.

We have a motel that is at a golf resort. This place looks pretty nice and has a lot of long parking right in front of the rooms. They have 50 rooms and they have had some bass tourney guys there in the past. There are no outside plug-ins, but they have no problem with running a cord from your room out to your boat. The cost including tax is $84.00 a night. If we can get enough guys that will stay, we are considering doing an early sign up on Friday night to help with the tight situation. The local Prom is going on that weekend and most of the other rooms are taken up from that, so you might reserve your room soon. This motel is about 2 miles south of the Monon Ramp. Here is the information:

Pine View Resort
1969 N. West Shafer Dr.
Monticello, IN 47960
Tel: 574-583-7733
Tel: 1-800-972-9636

There are two area bait shops that will have bait in the area. The 1st one is:

Twin Lakes Fish and Game
1880 N. Francis St.
Monticello, IN
Tel: 574-583-6635

Breezy Hill Bait
3846 East Bailey Road
Monticello, IN
219-253-8328

We are still working on the details on when they will open and what they will be carrying bait wise.

Thank you to Myron Etchison for hard work in scouting out the area and setting things up for us. If you see or talk to Myron, be sure to thank him!

If you go up, make sure you report back and let us know if you had any success, and what kind of size you are catching. Good luck if you go up!
