If I .could take one color to any where I went it would be blk/char. A very consistent color for me.

Anything with chartreuse in it. My favorites in no particular order are black/chartreuse, lime green/chartreuse, red/chartreuse, organge/chartreuse, white/chartreuse, brown/chartreuse, pink/chartreuse, and blue/chartreuse. Which one I use depends on water clarity, sun or overcast, depth, etc.

black/chartreuse works for me in all water conditions, whether it be clear, stained,or muddy.red/char would be my second choice.i've taken 12 limits in 3 lakes from april 1st until now,and several days of 5-9 keeper fish and i have not changed colors once from a black/chartreuse.lake decatur has been a rolin mud pit for nearly a month now,and the ole black/char has produced when others have not,for me.
"It's not the size of the jig,It's how you use it!!"
red/white, black/chart, motor oil
Any combination of black and chartruse works for me..
Mean green! If you looked in my boxes you wouldnt find any that didnt have some sort of green on them.
White.
I was at a Grizzly Jig seminar a couple years ago and heard Ronnie Capps, of Capps and Coleman fame, say that they only use one color jig skirt: lime and chartreuse (Midsouth). He said if the crappie don't hit that color, they go to minnows (which I think they use most often). Those guys have won so many crappie tournaments on so many different lakes across the country, I decided then and there to keep a good supply of lime/chart. in my box. He also said they use plain uncolored jigheads.
But experience has taught me that there is no one color that always works...I think any jig fisherman will tell you that ALL colors will work SOMETIME. So I like an assortment of jig head colors and sizes to match up with various skirt color combos...along with an assortment of crappie nibbles.
My favorite ALWAYS is whatever the crappie tell me they want...that day...on that lake. Part of the fun of crappie fishing is finding that right combination for that day, and it may change during the day. A nice assortment of jigs and skirts...including twister tails, hair jigs, and maybe a few "homemades"...is a good idea. If I had to pick one color only, I wouldn't jig fish...I'd just throw minnows.
But I prefer all that goes with the jigs.
