Good job and great idea. Thanks.
My buddy fingerlicken gave me a 30 gallon plastic barrell, so I decided since the kids didn't have school and I couldn't go fishing, I would make me a minnow tank today. Here are some pics, it is nothing special, but it will work!!

ESF--Why the hinged door? I am getting ready to fix mine up a bit and was wondering if you knew something I didnt about bulding these things..just wonderin..
Thats a great idea. That ought to save a couple trips to the baitshop.
Loks like the one I have but mine is a blue barrell. I have had mine for a few years and it does work great. Just buy a $10.00 aqurium pump from wal Mart and it will work great. I have been trying to figure out a way to put a filtering system in mine. Greg if you come up with an idea let me know.

The reason for the hinged lid is to keep the kids from playing in it, and if I put it outside I don't have to worry about critters getting my minners!! Also I don't know, guess just wanted a lid!!

Hey Scott I don't think we are going to filter ours either, just stick a bubbler in it and go from there.

I was always told that the secret to keepin them alive was keeping them cool, is that a problem in warmer conditions?
I am going to somehow put mine close to the gutter so when it rains it will fill up my tank with rain water instead of tap water..supposedly it helps the longevity of the minnows...just ahvent quite figured out how i am gonna do it yet...and i set mine on end like normal, i dont have it on its side...not sure about that either...
I would be careful using the gutter, I do that for rain water for my garden and you will get leaves and grit from the roofing tiles in it.
