Default For the local guys at Rend.

Ok I think I may have pee'd off a few local guys at Rend this week. Well I want to set the record straight about this issue because I know several of you read this forum.
I recieved word that there was a few worthless people at one of the dams on Rend who never fish until the fish start their move. These ding dongs were catching 5 gallon bucket fulls of crappie and carrying them to their vehicle. Well let me tell ya that a few of these idiots have had run in with law enforcement in the past and don't deserve to fish in the waters we all fish in. Especially if they are taking bucket fulls of fish no matter what size they are.
I called a buddy of mine who is a CPO and gave him the info. Well now the word is out that I called the "COPS" on everyone at the lake. Well let me tell you that is not the case.
So with that said, I did not call the CPO's on anyone that I know. Because the guys I know at the lake who fish are a bunch of good guys. But I would say some are upset about this issue. If so you don't have anything to worry about. The guys at the dam are the ones who need to worry when they take buckets of fish to their vehicles and are way over the limits.
I'm one to say I don't agree with the slot limit and think it needs to be done away with. It should be just a straight limit or a limit of 20 or 25 fish over 9 or 10 inches that would be fine with me. But don't take 5 gallon buckets of fish and expect not to get caught.

With that said I am not going to appologize for doing my job. Next time maybe I will just go there while I am working and take care of it my self.

The law is what it is. I personally think 15 over 10" and 10 under would be a better limit. I fish by myself and don't usually take any home under 10". Sometimes 10 fish is hard to get, some of the time it is too easy. I'm sure the IDNR biologist have their reasons for the limit.

Anyway, I agree with you 100% on the 5 gallon buckets full. Those people are not true sportsman. They are violators!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work.

Hey Scott I have met and talked to out on the water and know you are a down to earth guy. I go by the limit and I think everyone should. If those guys are taking that many fish home than something needs to be done. I agree with you on the limit it should be 20 or 25 fish and do away with the 10 over 10 inch. It would make things easier on the fisherman. And I agree keep up the good work!

if someone is driving down the road obviously drunk, do you get mad at the person that calls you in? maybe, but you shouldn't be driving drunk.

    limit is 25, don't take 26.

pretty simple, follow the law and you don't have a problem.

(i know that is a pretty non parallel analogy, but it fits. I have CPO and DNR numbers in my phone for that reason. kudos on doing the right thing)

    Scott,

Well said !! We all want or should want wildlife for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. When people become "hogs" they need to be stopped.
Several years ago when Crappie fishing at Newton Lkae was good. A couple of guys would keep 100-150 a day -- clean 50 and throw the rest in the trash cans. I approached these two men -- It got ugly - but I still think we all need
to help each other with all limits of wildlife so that we all can enjoy !!

I dont see why anyone would get upset about being check by CPO. If you are in the right then you are in the right. I personally lik to see them on the lake doing their job. Too many times I have been on the boat and had some one fly past my boat obviously drunk or or have seen someone taking way more than their limits. My only complaint with CPO is everytime I get checked it seems to be when I am on the fish and they come flying up on me with their big motor and spook the fish

My dad was a conservation officer in Indiana for years. He taught me when I was a youngin that the limits are there to make sure we have healthy game in the future. The system works, but only if everyone plays by the rules. My hat is off to you CX ... nice job.
