    Default Trolling cranks

Do I need to increase my speed to get a deep diver to reach, say over 10' to 15' deep initially?
Or is 0.5 mph fast enough to get it to reach these depths..... Or do I need to increase speed
initially to reach deep and then back off?

    Thanks,
    Roach

Wen I pull cranks I run 1.6-2.0 usually. There is an app called “precision trolling” that many of us use. It costs a bit but is a go to on the water. It has different lures (gazillions) Arkies, Pico’s etc. Here are a couple screen shot examples. Hope this helps

Can also use the diving weights to get them down. They are made by Offshore Tackle

You won’t get the action you need out of your crankbait without speed of at least 1.5 and diving depth is achieved by speed also the precision trolling app is the best friend you can have for pulling crankbaits

Thermocline about 15’. Set 300 series bandits to run 12’ to 13’. Ran about 1.5 mph on gps unit. Ran every 300 bandit I had for over 4 hrs. No bites at all. The only color I don’t have is chartreuse dynamite!

That has been my experience with trolling for crappie, just has not happened for me and I have tried many times at many different lakes. " Not holden my mouth right" is what somebody said. Just came back from Tomahawk, Wi. Caught some Crappie and Walleye. Crappie were all 11.5 to 12.5 inches and Wallys were 16 to 18". Wonderful!

Another person fishing this past weekend said their spider rigging didn't work for them either. I did some vertical jigging but only caught 2. Mighty slow this weekend.
I hate to hear others struggled, but it confirms the bite was tough on a couple of different lakes. Or we were using the wrong color dynamite!

Does the lake your trolling have white crappie in it? Pulling crankbaits usually only works for white crappie, black crappie will hit a crankbait but if your fishing a lake with both in it your catch rate will usually be 90% whites
